Gangō-ji (元興寺) is an ancient Buddhist temple, that was once one of the powerful Seven Great Temples, in Nara, Japan. located among the narrow streets of the Naramachi district of Nara, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and can lay claim to being one of the most ancient temples in Japan. This temple has 1300 years of history and is considered one of the seven great temples of Nanto. It is the main temple in Naramachi, the traditional district of Nara. We made a lovely visit in winter appreciating the hall that you meet just entered, with mandalas, statues and a bell. There is a garden with statues and quite and peaceful tranquility is all around.
